Perfect as a monitor

I use this for two purposes. First, as an on-stage monitor for vocals and guitars (where the wedge format is actually quite useful) and second, at home as a guitar practice monitor paired with an amp modeler (POD XT live). I am very satisfied with the way the combo performs. It is perfect with amp modelers like POD/Boss GT, etc. Because it does not color the sound, yet it provides enough output power to be used as a guitar amp setup for practicing, even with a live band. I use it as well to practice my vocal microphone technique. The inputs are flexible enough (XLR, 1/4 and RCA) to accomodate any setup and the wedge format makes it perfect to hear yourself when you stand up. Can be used as a small PA system for parties at home, etc. but I recommend using it as personnal monitor primarily, not as your PA. Delivers good output for low frequencies, but I'd recommend going with the 100w version and its 12 in for serious bass. Perfect though for guitar/vocals with mostly highs/mids.

I play a lot of low-end piano an dbass. Thsi box is thin in the low register and no matter whre I put it, feeds back-- probably from drum mics, I'll admit. Nice light box, but I'd never use it for anything but a monitor.

Yorkville's Bang for the Buck!

I just bought the Yorkville 50w Wedge Monitor to use with my KORG Triton Extreme 88 and am blown away with its full range and ability. This truly is a great practice amp and can hang with most small to medium sized stage setups as a monitor too. I use it as a monitor, a practice amp, and even a minature PA system. Channel 1 is set for a Mic line, channel 2 is set for a stereo instrument, and even has stereo RCA inputs for routing in a outside stereo RCA music source through channel 2. Yorkville has a comprehensive warranty and obviously made a product that delivers big bang for the buck. A must have for any Keyboard player's home studio and/or the small Gig performer. Press in and play on!

Way Small... Way Cool!

I own two of these units, and I think they're spectacular. I play a Kawai MP-9500 digital piano (talk about way cool!) in a classic rock band with its own huge sound system. The "Yorkies" provide me with fantastic stereo on-stage monitoring (love that wedge shape!) I also play a number of softer, jazzier gigs, where I handle left-hand bass on the Kawai; the low-end response on these units is very impressive. Very light and compact... very well made... very easy to dial-in a good sound. And, of course... very reasonably priced. You can't go wrong!!
