I've been playing piano and keyboards for over 26 years and have owned many different instruments, but I'd have to say that this is one of the finest that I have ever purchased. Aside from the outstanding craftsmanship, it feels, looks, and sounds absolutely fantastic. It is an outstanding value for the price. The salesperson was friendly, courteous, and helpful. Excellent service Musician's Friend, and thank you for a first rate instrument.

I've had Roland's and Korg's, but this one takes the cake. Well built, solid strong sounds, easy to navigate, on-board sequencer and realistic piano keys. The instruction manual could have been better. Once you combine the S90 with a yamaha rack (ex. motif ES rack) there is nothing more you'll need to buy as far as sound bank. Fits styles from hip-hop to Hyden, and from country to Coltrane. Highly recommend for beginners to pros.

I purchased this keyboard a year ago now and all I can say is that I'm the pickiest keyboardist you'll meet. Trained classically on an acoustic spinnet, I lean towards the real thing and therefore refused for years to even own a keyboard. After going through many different models (once I realized no roadie is willing to haul an acoustic piano - haha), I finally stumbled across the Yamaha S90 when I had my heart set on a Kurzweil. Well, thank God most places don't sell K's anymore because I would have missed out on an amazing keyboard. It has the most realistic piano sound I've heard and has excellent samplings of other sounds. Great for live performance. My only qualm - there's so much do learn on it! Will I ever learn it all! :)

As many have already stated, this won't do any sequencing or sampling, but I was looking for the best piano sound and keyboard feel out there and this was it... The strings, to me sounded superior to the triton's as well... There's only one harpsichord though, and it doesn't sound that good to me... There are quite a few chips to expand it's strings and piano's and all that though, and I can only imagine how that would greatly add to it... I'm eager to try... There is a very easy analog influenced slider approach to editing the sounds too, which I find easier than on any other synth, and there's alot you can do, but be careful as the thing automatically saves any changes, and so you have to reboot the original presets if you don't want your grand piano sound to sound like the keyboard from Shine On You Crazy Diamond that you just accidentally warped it into... This is the same sound engine and keyboard for digital piano that Stevie Wonder uses, without the sequencing, which, for some reason, I doubt he does a whole lot of himself, unless they make one with a brail display... I think Yamaha just puts a motif in his hands for product placement... Whatever Stevie uses is good enough for me...
