This instrument has very pleasant touch, accurate and responsive, which allows musician to easily cope with any kind of music he plays. Also the sound is very realistic and bundled instruments are gereally very convincing, too. It comprises all the necessary features (from transposition to recording) and provides good connectivity (although the RCA output is on fixed volume levels¨.

Yamaha P-140

Built in speakers are a bit bright. Piano sounds are all useable, and quite good. Not convenient for the stage or the studio. Could use a USB out as well as 1/4" out instead of RCA. Weighting is a bit heavy but has a nice multilayered feel. Strings sound excellent. Its not too heavy.
Good keyboard sound and feel. Could be more convenient. Usable in the studio but is questionable for the road...

The p-140 is a great piano sound without too many extras. I'd prefer the piano to have a few good string patches and voice like sounds.

The dull finish on the keys is a good thing, esp compared to the ultra slick plastic usually found on digital pianos and synths. But the action is a bit overrated, imo. It is too easy, and the "throw" is a bit too short. This model, however, is better than the P-70. the question is: is it twice as good, because it costs twice as much. There are not a lot of options at this price point. This may be the best option at this price, as there aren't many other choices. Casio's action is suprisingly good, but Casio is inferior due to inadequate muffling of the hammers making noise against the casing -=--this Yamaha is probably the best all around unit for the price.

I purchased it about three weeks ago and love the touch. It has the deep Yahama sound of their grand piano with the sm. size of a keyboard. My parents have have a 5'2 yamaha grand piano and it takes me back to the days of playing it in their living room. The organ is a true organ sound. I brought it to use for teaching music lessons.
