Had mine for about 2 years now and absolutely love it. Have produced 2 albums with it and a number of live performances. It is a joy to play. I keep discovering new and better ways to create music with it, and have found so many great sounds (many FREE) that I honestly believe there will be no bordem with this keyboard. Every playing experience with my Motif ES is a good one. Wise investment.

I would like to secure my settings and have the keyboard secured and lockable. The studio is available to students and their families. I do not wish to have children have access to it. It is very dificult to move in and out. A lockable cover would be nice. Do I have to have one made or does Yahama offer a alternative?

This is my first synth, owned the ES7 about 6 months and only added memory so far. It does it all, though tasks can be cumbersome at first. Be prepared for a steep learning curve and a manual that is not geared toward newbies. Fortunately (or unfortunately), there are others out there that have been in the same boat and can help. Features are abundant and they would rate higher except I found the included PC software, for which I had high hopes, basically unusable. You may need to shell out a little extra for Cakewalk or similar if that is your thing. I haven't found anything it can't do -- it just takes a while to get there. If you have patience, this machine will reward your efforts.

The sounds are first rate. The action is very usable lightly wieghted similar to my old Roland XP80. Mine is loaded up with sampler memory. Nothing else is needed. It's built like a tank, but if they could maintain that solid build and make it lighter, this keyboard would be absolutely perfect.
