The K2 is the smallest keyboard amplifier to offer Traynor's innovative tube / solid-state input and proprietary Voicing circuitry first introduced on its big brother, the K4. This unique input design makes the Traynor K2 more than a monitor, but part of the keyboard player's tone pallet.

The Voicing circuit offers several pre-set user selectable tone shapes on channel one to add overall presence to further enhance specific synth sounds on the K2's first channel. The selectable tube or solid state input allows the player to select at pristine, high-headroom solid-state clean input on channel one, or a more warmer, slightly compressed tube circuit to add warmth to digital synths and samplers.

Channel two includes an XLR / 1/4-inch TRS combi-jack input, for an additional line or microphone level input, and has its own dedicated three-band EQ. The Traynor K2 includes a three-band master EQ for additional overall tone shaping, as well as a master volume control and 1/4-inch TRS balanced line output.

The compact K2 amplifier is also a convenient and powerful wedge monitor, designed for the live stage. Although it's small enough to fit easily under almost any keyboard rig, the 3-way speaker system delivers a full 200-watts to the stage, more than enough for most live applications. The innovative third channel post master input (located on the back of the K2) allows an additional signal to be fed to the amplifier, without feeding it to the pre-master line output. This allows sources like monitor feeds from the front of house mix, a drum machine click tracks or cue sends to be amplified on stage by the K2, without feeding them to the house mix.

well, the biggest thing about this is that, the woofer is not big enough. a keyboard amp (if you,re going to play techno sounds, or even a deep acoustic sound) should atleast have a 12"-15" sub (atleast thats what my bandmates tell me) or something comparable to a good bass cab, if you are going to gig anything larger than your bedroom. This amp clips just about any deep sound when the master volume is past 5... I dont like having half an amp.

I wish I had good things to say about this amp since Traynor has a good rep, however this amp really sucks. It's the casio keyboard of amps. I actually ordered 1 of these for my Nord G2 synth... and other instruments... the first amp blew out in less than 5 minutes of use! It was not due to anything I was doing and I had to return it. I got another replacement a week later, thinking I should give the amp another chance... but that was a bad idea. Do not waste your money and time on this thing. The tone is awful no matter what the setting or combo: tube, solid, it doesn't matter. Any EQ sounded terrible. The speaker in this has no substance. It sounds like a cheap piece of tin with no life. And the knobs are pretty cheap as well. I didn't feel like this would last a week on the road, or give me a consistent sound, and I found no sound with it that was pleasing. I have many other amps and this just can't compare... iIve played Crates that are way better. Stop here and look for something else if you are considering this amp. I'm a pro and there are much better options out there. I foolishly though this would be a 'good little powerful amp' and it turned out to be about the worst amp i've ever tried, for synth, E guitar & electric violins... I ended up going for the much bigger and amazing california blonde, which is something almost any player just can't go wrong with... my G2 sounds phenomenal through this... but even for a small amp this traynor is a piece of junk... my 10 year old peavy monitor sounds better than this crappy amp... do not buy it folks!

This amp is not for casual keyboardists. For that, you'd do much better with something like an Alesis Sumo. For someone willing to pay more and get more for it, this is great. It has a nicely versatile I/O setup with some well thought out monitoring and line out options. My one wish here would be for an effects send/return system. The switchable tube preamp has a genuine tube that warms and softens the sound nicely. With the gain knob, it can also get some genuine overdrive. The EQs provide a handy amount of sound shaping, though the mids are lower than I'm used to. The voicing circuit is simply several EQ presets. While they do sound fine for their recommended functions, IMHO, they're a moderate waste of knob space. The build quality is excellent. They have managed to keep everything feeling solid yet still keep the weight quite manageable. The handle is rock solid and makes transport relatively painless. My only problems were that the knobs and the surface finish could use a touch more refinement. The sound is quite good. Everything sounds very tight and clean. The low end, while still good (enough for a bass amp) lacks some of the boominess I was hoping for (a personal preference) but still sounds big and solid. There is a slight hiss from the horn, but isn't loud enough to worry with. The mids are particularly nice: smooth and never harsh. The volume is impressive. At 1/4 or less, it can still shake the floor: it's 200 real watts. I'm really enjoying this amp and think I will for quite some time. When shopping around, there really wasn't much with this kind of power for less money.
