Best keyboard! (for the money.)

A number of other reviews of the Juno-D complain that after a while, some of the keys stop working. This happened to my keyboard, too. BUT I took it to an audio repair shop in Portland called Inner Sound. They called Roland. Roland said this was a common problem (key bed lubricant was corrosive to the connections or something) and they'd send a whole new key bed for FREE!!! Inner Sound installed the new key bed (for their minimum fee) and I'm back touring with the keyboard. Mind you, I bought this USED and without documentation, and whatever warranty it may have had had surely expired. Roland's customer service really came through, and I was so impressed I had to write this. From what I understand, they've fixed the problem on the new ones. This keyboard is worth it! Not the best sounds or the best keyboard you'll buy, but for the money, it's hard to top.

Disposable Keyboard

This keyboard has some great features and a sound bank full of 80's sounds. You can use it to make techno, and I actually thought the organ, string, percussion and piano sounds were convicing. I gave this keyboard a low score because a few keys stopped working after a couple years. Then about half of the keys wouldn't work. I paid $125 to have it repaired -- basically many of the contacts were replaced and cleaned. However, some keys still sound louder than others, and it appears I have to go back to replace another contact. This keyboard is built to last 2-3 years. It is a disposable keyboard.

Being that I got this keyboard at a really good deal, I was really happy with it. I considered if I would ever buy it at full price, and I've come to think that I would. The sounds in the lower registers really amaze me, and are perfect to act as drone pedal tones to act as a bass. The string sounds sound are nice, and the vocal sounds are almost too good to be on a keyboard this price. The drum kits don't sound good at all. On this keyboard you might come across a few really good sounds on each setting, and others are kind of just crap. The D Beam I've yet to really use, but its still really cool. The keyboard is light and affordable, the value is pretty decent.

Some bad keys

The Roland Juno D has a lot of excellent sounds and effects. I liked it alot until some keys stopped working about 2 years after I bought it, which is a Big problem and totally annoying. It's out of warranty so I'll probably have to spend $100 or more for my local music repair store to fix it. I took it apart as much as I could but still couldn't see what the problem was.

Poor Quality Manufacturing

Wow. I loved it when I got it. It was great. Within a year, some keys stopped working. Since it wasn't under warranty anymore, I couldn't get it repaired. So I took it apart and cleaned the metal contacts. Luckily it worked, but after a few weeks they wore out again. Now keys keep wearing out and I have to rip the thing apart every month or so. Also, the "value +" and "value -" buttons are worn out and i have to press them really hard the get them to work. I am so severely disappointed in this product...I will never buy anything Roland again.

That being said, the sound quality of this thing isn't bad. It's just the physical manufacturing quality that is disturbingly poor.
