The Roland GW-7 Keyboard combines a potent set of arranger-workstation tools with a clean, easy user interface, an extensive customizable sound set, and powerful realtime performance. It provides a large library of mainstream sounds, ethnic flavor, and accompaniment styles for covering a wide range of contemporary pop.

It also gives you the ability to add styles and MIDI files as well as back up data through the USB port. You get a 16-track sequencer, 101 styles, 99 user presets, and 99 song locations. 3 pre-selectable styles-Drum & Bass, Combo, and Full Band-make it easy to start building tracks. The large, backlit LCD, pitch/mod wheel, D-Beam controller, assignable controls, and 61-key board give you lots of ways to control your music.

Easy operation

Whether you love or loathe technology, you'll find the GW-7 to be simple, straightforward, and inviting to use. No extensive knowledge of synthesis or sequencing is required to use this intuitive instrument. It's the perfect first-time workstation for standard pop, jazz, and world-music styles, but its sound quality and styles are rich and expressive enough to attract professionals as well.

Realistic preset backing tracks

The GW-7 comes equipped with a wide variety of pre-programmed Backing Track Styles to play along with. In all, there are 110 Styles onboard, with 99 User memory locations to import more. For the preset Styles, choose from a trio of band types: Drum & Bass, Combo, and Full Band. You can also create your own songs from scratch with the internal 16-track sequencer. 99 user locations are also provided for storing your songs.

USB I/O

Connect the GW-7 to a computer or USB-equipped external device with one simple USB cable, and transfer data back and forth quickly and easily. Keep your GW-7 well stocked with fresh songs and Styles by loading new Styles and Standard MIDI Files. Save your compositions and arrangements via USB.

Expressive performance features

The GW-7 is made to be played. And not just on its keyboard, this workstation offers an invisible, front-panel D Beam (wave your hands over the beam to color your sound), plus a pitch-bend/modulation lever, and a pair of control knobs. Performers will appreciate the GW-7's large backlit LCD, especially on dark stages and dimly lit studio environments.

This keyboard is the best thing that I have ever played. I mean this little workstation can really go. I play for churches and different things like that and the remarks after are great. People say that the gw workstation rocks the church and I agree...so buy I and you won't be left unsatified.

I just purchased this board, and I'm nothing short of completely satisfied. I've owned a DX7, D50, Juno-D, RD-700, an original micro and mini Moog, and more other keyboards than I could count. At this price point...especially from a live performance point of view...there is NOTHING in the market that rivals this board in terms of features and convenience. There are only 3 things I wished Roland had done: 1) make a numeric key pad to give the option to punch in a "tone" rather than dial; 2) put a phone jack on side or front; 3) made this in a black metal case, instead of the plastic. Most, if not all of the "tones" on this board, to my ear, are the same samples from the Juno-G; the present default tones are the same as my RD-700, except obviously the key action is different. I received this board yesterday after work. Unpacked and loaded up for rehearsal last night...and badda-bing....it was flawless an easy to use. The Roland video of this product, on the Roland website is what sold me on this board. If you can't play with a real one in a store....check out the video and buy it...you won't be disappointed.

The GW-7 is a mini workstation. I was really disappointed with the quality of sounds and keyboard action. For the price, you should look into the amazing Korg X-50, which has a much better sound set and action. If you need a cheap sequencer on your board then the GW-7 is a good value, but if you use a computer for sequencing then don't buy it. Get an X-50.

Got the keyboard for the style/backing functions. Work perfectly and inspires alot of music improvisation. Design is fantastic as it is very slim n light, suitable for gigging musicians. The world sounds are good fun. User-friendly connectivity thru usb for adding new styles are great addition. The two knobs for analog tweaking is alot of fun, makes it a half synthesizer. D-Beam also is fun. Price tag also is very affordable. Overall this keyboard is very easy to play, and alot of fun too. Recommend this board to beginners or musicians who like very little tweaking n lots of playing.

This is a great board for live gigging and the sounds are unbelievable for the price. Light, portable, looks great, and waaay more durable than it appears; I highly recommend it if price is a major issue for you. I use this and the Triton LE that my church owns and prefer this board due to its real-time tweakablility and on-the-fly splits and layers. I don't like the flywheel but you can save 10 fav instruments to be recalled at the touch of a button. Never used the D-beam. Can be used as a workstation but is hard to master and irritating to edit!
