Great keyboard, but a bit fragile

Overall, this keytar rocks. Great buy, alot of fun to play. I'm an extremely experienced classical pianist and I like to play technical progressive metal, so I'm a bit disappointed about how awkward it is to use my left hand, but I guess that should be expected. My other main problem is how fragile it is. I've broken a key on it twice without doing much of anything to it. The first time it cost $80 to fix and I didn't really want to spend another $80, so the 2nd time, I just left it the way it was since it was just a chip out of the inside. Overall, I think this is a killer product. Just make sure you have a sound module (I'd suggest a Roland JV-1010).

This delicious piece of equipment rocks my socks. I bought it so I could perform guitar synthesis without having a keyboard in front of me, and it's such a refreshing feeling. Especially considering I'm the vocalist of my band: I can't be up front if there's a keyboard in front of me, there's no mobility. The high velocity keys are superb, the lightweight design is perfect for playing gigs....no complaints from me. Oh, and to those purchasing it, the AX-7 does come with a MIDI cable, so there's no need to purchase one.

I have used my AX7 for about 3 years, and love it's light weight and the freedom of movement it offers me(with the battery pack). I am a rookie when it comes to setting parameters and patches, but I manage to get a lot of cool effects regardless. And the best part is when I play it in church, people are dazzled (or dazed)! It is so much fun to play!

Surperb keytar for the stage, but thats all. In the studio, not so good, but live, it's great. I don't want to get anymore repetative, so I'll move on. The pitch touch control and expression bar are great, they definatly allow for some fun, not to fond of the set up of the features, but that doesn't mean the features are no good.

The Roland AX-7 is incredible. I previously owned the AX-1, and the AX-7 is loaded with more features, for the same price. This is a front-lines piece of kit, and is designed almost exclusively for the live keyboardist. It does one thing, and does it well: Live Performance. If you are thinking about adding this to your lineup for studio use, keep looking. Go for the M-Audio 88-Key. The AX-7 is comfortable, lightweight (no sore shoulders), and expressive. Going back to "regular" synths I was annoyed, as the sustain was missing, and the mod/pitch controls are ergonomically located. For live performance this is the undisputed winner. I absolutely love it. Keyboards would not be the same without the AX-7.
