The G2's 8 Morph Groups per patch let you control sets of parameters from single internal control sources - and via MIDI. The pitch stick on the G2 can also be used to control an entire Morph Group!

Thanks to the realtime USB communication, the G2 immediately responds to your patching and follows your moves. Most of the modules are self-optimizing, meaning that they adapt their DSP load to the patched signals. The flexible modules also make it easy to alter functionality without needing to replace modules. To replace modules, just switch out the module and the cables will jump to the corresponding connections on the new module.

I've owned this synth for about 6 months now. You can replicate so many of the pioneers of industrial / rave / electronica music just by tweaking with a few presets. NiN? No Problem. The Prodigy? Got it. KMFDM? Yup. I wish I had a piece of hardware like this 10 years ago. The editor on the computer is also amazing. I've spent countless hours tweaking samples and it's addictive. I feel like I've opened the door to creativity with this synth as music just happens. It's also easy to use for the technically minded. If it was ever stolen or broke I'd immediatly go out and purchase another.

I've had this synth for about a year. Also use soft synths but wanted a hardware synth as a secondary keys and backup for gigs.

The G2 has those great Nord synth-lead presets and immediate control features you'll love. Several good control knobs for the tweaker. Even more control is available for designing patches in the G2 editor that can be downloaded into the G2 with your computer. There is a whole community of G2 users creating patches.

Computer synthesis however is hardly an intuitive subject (um, I mean it's really difficult and detailed for a newbie). And creating new sounds/modules/programming sequencer is much easier with an intuitive software synthesizer like Reason.

I would recommend getting the DSP expander right away to be able to maximize the number of voices for multiple on-stage presets. Also you should get the Nord carrying case because it's very cool and inexpensive to protect this synth.
