The remarkably light Nord Electro 2 Sixty-One Stage Piano/Organ is a perfect gig rig. 61 velocity-sensitive semi-weighted waterfall keys and only 17 pounds. The best emulations of traditional electromechanical keyboard instruments ever.

The organ in the Electro 2 is based on the digital simulation of the mechanical tone wheels of the B-3 organ and it offers a number of very innovative solutions to mimic the B-3 sound. Such innovations include complex digital modeling of the original B3 chorus and vibrato scanner, simulation of the individual random contact bounces for each partial, and simulation of the unique frequency characteristics of the built-in preamplifier which forms the body of the B-3 sound. The drawbars are represented by up/down buttons and LED bar graphs. So when you change presets, the correct drawbar settings are shown immediately by the LEDs, avoiding the need for trial and error.

The piano section comprises several carefully multisampled electric piano instruments. As a bonus, it also includes an acoustic grand piano. The piano sounds are built up by a vast number of multisamples to catch every nuance from soft to hard hits. USB interface for quick and easy download of new piano sounds. Very flexible effects section including a rotary speaker simulation.

Includes v.2 software.

Nord Electro 2 Sixty-One Stage Piano/Organ Features:

  • Drawbar settings presets:
  • 8 drawbar presets plus a random preset function in ROM and 9 user drawbar settings

    Keyboard Split:
  • Makes it possible to play an organ sound with two different drawbar settings

Supports an extra MIDI keyboard in addition to its own for 2-manual play with varied drawbar settings

    Electric piano section:
  • Rhodes Mk I Stage Piano, Rhodes Mk I Suitcase Piano, Wurlitzer 200A, Clavinet D6 and the custom modified Clavia Electric Grand Model G, and stereo acoustic Malmsjoe grand piano

48 user memory locations (6 banks holding 8 programs each) in which you can store complete setups, including instrument settings (organ or piano) and effects settings

    Effects:
  • Overdrive, rotary speaker simulation (slow, fast, stop), equalizer, chorus (2 types), flanger (2 types), phaser (2 types), tremolo, wah-wah (2 types), auto wah, auto panning, and ring modulation

61-key (5-octave) velocity sensitive semiweighted "waterfall" (square front) keyboard

Great Keyboard

I bought it for the Piano sounds and the Clav.

When you play the organ no preamp is needed with studio monitors it puts out a strong sound, With the piano sounds without a pre amp the sounds are very low on volume.

I hook it up to my TC Eletric audio interface and the monitors sound great with piano sounds- Piano play back needs some kinda pre amp if you use studio monitors. Now when i hook it direct to my ad50 marshal accoustic amp the piano sounds are great.

the sounds are worth the high price and the added cost of some kinda pre amp when you use the studio monitors is not a major draw back.

This Keyboard has such great sounds that i hate to turn it off and i strogly recomend it to anyone who is looking for a great light weight piano and the organ sound samples are so real it is hard to tell them apart from the old church organs of years past.

the draw bar adjustments are easy to use.

As far as the software goes i have not even tryed it yet, i have a synch that i loaded the software with the first day i bought it the roland sh 201 which is a alright synch but some of the sounds could be better.

the Nord I cannot think of any sounds i want to change, It is that good- get it you will not be sorry and if you are just going to run it threw a amp no pre amp is required but if you use studio monitors that just run it threw a mic pre amp or a audio interface and your good to go.

A little red monster

I have only one beef with this keyboard, it wasn't around 25 years ago when I really needed it. I have been through a variety of synths over the years but it always seems to come back to making good acoustic and elctric piano and good Hammond organ sounds. This is the keyboard that does all of that. For the weekend warrior, the Nord and a good synth is all that is needed to get 'em out on the floor. No more lugging hundreds of pounds of keys to get great sound. It's now my number one keyboard for my home studio. Thanks Nord!

Great Piano and Organ sounds

I've been looking at getting one of these for a couple of years now, but couldn't afford it until recently. I played them several times at a music store, and listened to the clip samples on the website, and finally decided to purchase one. It has amazing Piano and Organ sounds. I've been using a Korg M3 and the Piano sounds don't sound that great. The M3 has great other features, and tons of Synths, but I recommend adding the Nord Electro 2 if you want really realistic piano sounds in a 17lb portable package. I've had a little trouble with the software updating, but I'm sure I'll figure it out. The software layout for loading sounds isn't very user friendly, but appears that it will get the job done just fine, once I figure it out. Overall a must buy!!!

I have been using my 61 since the first of the year. I had two requirements. 1. Great sound 2. small board This keyboard does both in a big way. I use the board primarily for the organs and boy does it deliver. Make sure to set up the presets and this baby will definitely do the job. I feel very confident in it's build quality and reliability. If I wear it out break it I will replace it with another one.

They nailed the B3 sounds.

I've been a trained B3 tech for the last 35 years, so for me to say that is not a reach. The pianos are good to fine. The push buttons for the drawbars are easy to use once you get used to them, although real B3 players may not like them at first. The reason I gave this a 4.5 on features is that the keyboard I bought in Feb. '08 is a litlle hissy at low volumes and that could make it hard to record direct. A good work around is just don't record it direct, or if you do just adjust your volumes so the hiss is not so noticable. It's a rather small point overall. For gigging this board can't be beat because of it's great sounds and portability.
