Conectiv, developed by M-Audio's SynchroScience division, is the world's first bus-powered 4 x 4 USB audio interface designed for DJs who perform and produce tracks with a laptop. Together, Conectiv and the included Torq software form the ultimate DJ tool—high-fidelity audio, all the right kinds of I/O (including dual phono preamps), and the ability to mix, beat-match and cue digital files with ease. Use them as a completely digital solution and leave the heavy stacks of vinyl or bulky wallets of CDs at home—or process your vinyl and CDs on the fly. You can even create a hybrid digital/vinyl DJ rig by using Conectiv and Torq with specially encoded control vinyl discs or CDs. Torq supports popular formats such as MP3, WAV, WMA and AAC files and is configured to automatically work with Conectiv—no messy set-ups. And unlike most digital DJ systems, Conectiv works with other third-party software as well.

SynchroScience—Designed for Real-time Performance M-Audio's new SynchroScience product development group is all about providing DJs with the tools they need —as evidenced by the portable and powerful Conectiv interface. With two pairs of stereo inputs and outputs, easy USB connectivity and included Torq DJ software, Conectiv can turn any compatible Mac or PC into a powerful DJ rig. The two large knobs allow you to seamlessly mix between the incoming audio from a turntable or CD player with the output of a connected Mac or PC. Conectiv also includes standard DJ cueing capabilities, so you can listen to any track in your headphones before sending it out to the house system.

Lets be clear, if you have less than 2 gigs of RAM you may have problems. I have been running Torq on Windows for overs 2 yrs with no problems. I have gigged with Serato and Finalscratch, and hands Torq is the best. The features on this program are amazing and you have the ability to incorporate VST plugins. Bottom line if you don't take care of your Laptop THEN YOUR GOING TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THIS OR ANY OTHER DJ SOFTWARE.

Sure Torq/Connectiv doesn't have as many features as the other guys, but at half the price? It's a steal... Used it for nearly 3 years now, it's become as essential to me as my decks and mixer. Torq doesnt like low grade files(under 128kbs) but that's well below cd quality. Most music paysites are higher than cd quality as it is. So long as You set it up for what you're doing it'll rock your world. JUST MAKE SURE TO GET THE LATEST VERSION AND DRIVERS FROM M-AUDIO's WEBSITE! Before I did, I had random glitches where a song wouldn't let me skip back on the record and occasionally played in reverse even on A Side of vinyl. After I got the updates, I had ZERO PROBLEMS. Don't need to be the coolest kid on the block? Too broke for the other brands? M-Audio has you covered...

Had this for about 3 weeks now, after organizing my music and memorizing the hot keys, i have to say that its one of the best things you can buy!

I've been dj'ing on and off for 13 years now and my beat mixing skills has gotten so much better in the last week! I mean, hearing the music is one thing... but seeing the wave file and knowing when the break is makes everything sound so much cleaner! I can sort by BPM and within a couple of seconds, have a song in cue. NO MORE wasting time finding the right song from pure memory... the BPM list is right there!

its not 100% stable and not 100% intuitive but i'm dedicating a good 3-4 months on this and im going to master this....

I have read a lot of reviews where "DJs" complain about the stability of Torq. If you are going to gig with a system of this kind, your computer needs to be dedicated to this. I have two partitions on my system, one for normal use and one strictly for music applications. I disable most Windows services that will not be in use during my sessions and I have yet to experience a letdown. I even tried running Torq on an old Athlon I have in my studio and after tweaking Windows it runs flawlessly. The effects are great and I would recommend a midi drum pad or controller to get the full experience out of the software. My only gripe is that Connectiv is no audio interface like Audio 8, but for the price that's too much to ask.

I originally got this product because I thought the really nice features were cool and it would be a cheaper alternative to serato or final scratch. boy was I wrong. Analyzing files takes so long and puts a load on your system. I am running a macbook pro with 1gb ram and the timecoding is awful. M-audio has a reputation of good products but what went wrong with this one? I know it just came out but this thing isnt stable at all.
