Old and Great Monsters

Ok, I agree it's an old synthesizer, I bought mine 6 years ago... But The fact is that what Kurzweil made in terms of piano sampling with the "Triple Strike" Piano in 2000, Yamaha took 7 years to come up with something barely equivalent. Korg and Roland are still trying (let's see how the Famtom-G sound). V.A.S.T. and KDFX algorithms are not easy to understand, but once you learn them, they're simply fantastic. With Gigabyte-rom synths on the market, 12mb or 44mb (expanded with optional boards) may seem ridiculous by the number, but comparing the sounds will teach you that the quality of a sample is much more important than it's size. Problems concerning storage technology (Flash memory was not available at the time, so it was equiped with SCSI ports for the use with faliure prone ZIP/JAZ drives) are solved by retrofitting it with SCSI-CF adapters, easyly bought thru the internet. After 8 years in the market, it's a lot cheaper than it was when I bought mine, but yet, not really cheap... This is partially because it's still manufacured in Korea, while newer Kurzweils are made in china. But the quality of contruction is unquestinable. I can't think of better weighted keyboard mecanisms. Talking about weight, it's a real heavy synth!!! I've been looking for a modern workstation to replace my K2600x for a couple of years and haven't found anything yet. Better keep it!!!

This is truly the most expensive instrument I've ever had. But it's worth it. The k2600 offers freedom and quality. The possibilities are infinite. And the KDFX is fantastic. Was quite surprised when i first played on it. And now I own it.
