The Korg X5D 61-Key Synthesizer gives you a lot of synth capability at a small synth price. With 64 voices and oscillators (single mode), 32 voices and 64 oscillators (double mode), and 61 velocity-sensitive keys with modulation and pitch wheels (backed with 8MB waveform memory), you get a lot of bang for the buck. 430 multi and 215 drum/percussion sounds with 64-note polyphony handle highly complex passages. 2 independent, multi-effects processors have 47 effect types such as delay, reverb, distortion, and rotary speaker which let you precisely shape sounds. 128 GM plus 8 drum (one MIDI) programs allow easy song playback. Oldie but a goodie

I got this thing a couple weeks ago and this is truly the birth of the synth engines around today. The tone shaping capabilities allowing you to stack and shape sounds are phenomenal. After a little research into the gigantic manual, you will find the means to make virtually any sound on more modern day synths right at your fingers. I made a Wurli sound combining an Elec Bass sound and a piano sound and changinf the attack values to make it more "soft." Add a little Tremolo from one of the many onboard efx and VIOLA! Fully customized and even mod controllable. There's a lot of depth here, so I cannot even fathom the possibilities. Great organ sounds I use live as well as good piano, clavi sounds, once you shave off a little of the reverb. My only complaint was the factory sounds are a bit too wet with the efx. Once you get past that and customize, fun city!

Simply Amazing

This is a very nice synth for the price range, but I did expect a little more from it. Very, very easy to learn to use, I got mine without a manual and figured it out within 10 minutes. The chorus voices aren't the greatest..but not completely horrible. It also has an amazing amount of capability. Great for metal and hardcore music.

I curently own several keyboards and this one has the best features for its' price range. I play professionally and use mine frequently. I can honestly say, I wish I had more of these. The portability and size make it the perfect keyboard for club gigs.

Small and light - but with incredible sound for the price. Korg support is pretty poor, however. There is no one to contact, with even such as small question as this: "How can import my favority sounds from my older Korg X5 into the new X5D?" If anyone has an answer to this question, please drop me a line at gwvnews@comcast.net.

Great for Studio or Playing Live

My wife brought this board for me a few years ago and I love it so much that I am purchasing another. All of the sounds are great. Some of the best sounds contained in a non-sampling keyboard are here. A lot of people don't know what they are missing by overlooking this board. It's great for using in the studio or playing live. It is probably one of the best keyboards for anyone who is heavily into arranging with strings, winds, horns, etc.....You can't go wrong with this one and it's worth at least 5 times the price they are asking for it. I hope Korg is smart and keeps it around for a while because it is surely a keeper! (Now if they could just expand it to a 76 key version that would be fantastic).
