I purchased my first Nanopad when they first came out. In less than 2 months about 3 of the pads went out.. totally dead. Troubleshoot the USB cable, my computer, etc. It was definitely the cheaply made plastic nanopad. Since I know the manager at Guitar Center, I had it swapped for another New one, New in box. This one did THE SAME EXACT THING... different pads tho. Three pads went dead after about 1 month. I am not hitting the pads hard. Got a THIRD NANOPAD yesterday. Pad #9 DEAD out of the box. What a chinese made piece of junk.

I have a macbook and this thing works great... Just plug in and play... And for the price? Can't beat it. I have had mine for about 9 months and I'm very satisfied.

Do Not Buy

I rely on these review areas to help me determine whether or not to purchase a product. Howver, I rarely write a review, I confess. However, having seen a mix of reviews for the Korg Nano Series, I went out on a limb and bought the Nanopad. And it simply doesn't work. I have numerous audio and midi devices, and have never had one simply not work. In 2009, a device such as this should simply work. I have since done what I should have done first, which is look at the Korg forums, and it seems a number of people are having the same problem that I am having. Windows says the Nanopad is installed correctly, but no application will recognize that the Nanopad is installed, including Korg's own Kontrol Editor. Nothing that I try seems to work. My best guess is that the driver is simply to written properly. But, that is just a guess. It could be a hardware issue. Needless to say, I am very dissapointed. And what's worse, I have found nothing on Korg's site that will help me troubleshoot my problems. This product will be going back to Musicians Friend as soon as possible. I am very dissapointed in Korg, they should rethink this line.

I have to say this is a great product for the price. If your new to MIDI the install is quite confusing and the directions that come with this offer little to no help but once you get it up and running correctly it is perfect for adding drum lines to your music. I am using this with EZdrummer and you can't beat this for the price.

Korg Does it Again

I already own a PadKontrol but I wanted something smaller for my laptop and this is it. Comes with the USB cable but you'll have to download the software from the Korg site because it doesn't come with any. But the software is free. The pads are exactly like the padKontrol except you can assign multiple notes or command changes to each pad. I think it's eight notes or command changes per pad. That means you can play a chord using only one pad. The pads don't light up like the ones on the padKontrol but for the price...who cares. The X-Y pad is really nice as well. I think it's better than the one on the padKontrol. There are presets for chromatic scales and the software makes it easy to change each pad to exactly what note or command change you like. The hold, roll and flam functions work great. This is a great piece of gear for cheap! Buy one now, you won't regret it.
