Designed in collaboration with leading harmonica manufacturer Suzuki Musical Instruments, the Hammond 44 Acoustic-Electric Melodion produces unique sounds that work in all genres of music—pop, jazz, roots, rock, country, blues, Latin, reggae, world/ethnic, and folk.

The Hammond 44 incorporate a built-in dynamic microphone with 1/4" phone jack that reduces the mechanical noise captured by external microphones. The microphone delivers exceptionally clear, HD-quality sound.

The 44-note piano-style keyboard has a slightly shallower key stroke than other keyboards, giving you fast fingering and smooth glissandos.

To give you exceptional sound, the Hammond 44 Melodion uses newly designed custom-tapered reeds that produce brighter and warmer sounds than other keyboards.

You can play the Melodion any way you want using the three included mouthpieces, Use the short mouthpiece and included hand strap to play the Hammond 44 like a trumpet. Using the flexible mouthpiece, you can hold the 44 at arm's length or sling it on like a guitar by attaching a guitar strap (sold separately) to the included strap buttons. Using the L-joint long mouthpiece, you can play it as a tabletop instrument or on top of your organ, piano, or synth. It's non-skid feet will keep the 44 in place as you play.

Includes a backpack-style gig bag in black and burgundy with a Hammond logo, a polishing cloth, and all the accessories.

Best melodica I've ever played

I started playing melodica as a lead instrument in a jazz/new age group after we first found a better guitarist than I was, and then a better bass player than I was. At first, it was more of a "let me play" instrument, but later on, the melodica became the lead voice in the group, and everyone else accepted that. I played an Excalibur, which was a nice melodica, but when I bought the Hammond 44, it blew away the Excalibur even without the built in mike. The sound of the 44 is cleaner and clearer than any melodica I've ever played and the key action is much brighter than any other melodica. It's a bit pricey, but if you are playing melodica in a semipro group, then it's well worth the investment. It's vastly superior to any other melodica I've ever played.

It's pretty solid but all the tubes and hoses are really cheap. It sounds nice and the main build quality is very good. The hose shown in the picture is too short and one has to crouch over to play it. The case is OK but not made to go in and out of the car much.

Bought this for two reasons. One just never played one and two because it was a Hammond. Well get ready for a treat because this melodion is a real treat. Sleek, beautifulpiece of equipment. Light and you can start playing instantly. I really like the various mouthpieces. Sometimes you just want to lay back and listen to yourself. But pull this sucker out at a gig and watch peoples eyes get big. Everybody wants to see it and play it. I really really like it. Oh yeah, once you hook up to an amp watch out. It really sounds nice. Also the mouthpies really allows you to customize your own sound buy the amount of air thay you use or don't use. This is a keeper.
