Synth guru Dave Smith of Dave Smith Instruments designed the Evolver Analog Synthesizer to create entirely original sounds from the interaction of analog and digital electronics, especially with the extensive use of tunable feedback. When things get weird, the Evolver Synthesizer's analog circuitry keeps the signal in line just enough to make wild sounds instead of pain. And the feedback is constantly moving differently in each path, providing some very cool stereo ambiance to the sounds.

Don't be fooled by the looks of this thing. If you know your stuff when it comes to synthesis you can really make some big brutal sounds come out of this. Dave Smith is a straight up genius. I'm pretty sure you can make just about any sound a mono synth can make with this thing and a few that no other mono synth I've ever heard can even dream of. This synth has one of the most extensive routing capabilities of anything I've ever used outside of a vsti. A word of advice if you're thinking of buying this....Don't even think about it if you're the kind of dude that just want to turn on a preset and rock out even though the presets are good you'll be wasting a perfectly good box. If you're the kind of guy looking for "real" sounding stuff you're looking at the wrong box. However of you're the kind of cat that is looking to make some outerspace funk to call down the mothership and live to create stuff that has never been heard before, this thing is for you. Don't try to mess with this thing if you're new to synthesis though or you'll just be buying yourself a big noisy rubix cube and you would be better off paying some extra to get the version of this with a keyboard and a readout attached.

This synth is awesome. It took me a good deal of time to learn but it was absolutely worth it, you can do so much with this box. I don't use software or my E-mu E4 anymore because I can cover so much ground in such a fresh new way with this gizmo. I highly recommend it, it makes it easy to leave the tried corn-ball sounds of samplers and sound modules. It also has great tone for standard leads and basses.
