This keyboard has been a Godsend. I have a special needs child and she adores it. She carries it with her wherever she goes. Its her best friend :)It really stimulates her. She has developed so much since we bought it for her. So, although it's not for advanced children, it's a great beginners keyboard. It's also VERY sturdy as she has dropped it many times and it still works!

a lot of bad reviewers don't get it

basically, these are good as a companion toy, and for recording the interesting tones- the entire sa series of casios is also good for circuit bending.

honestly, small minded musicians will only be able to see an instrument within the boundaries of what they are capable of. between my housemates and i, we have 5 sa series casios.

there was a several month period in which i opted for the casios over my much more expensive synths and keyboards.

they have a bunch of groovy tones and are good for messin around- they also sound pretty cool through effects boards. annnnd, the oscillations of the sounds change with the volume going up and down.

For kids

I got this on the Wal-mart website that had it on clearance for about half of the Musicians Friend price. That's about all that it's worth. The keys are smaller than I thought they would be. An adult can play it but it's mainly for little kids. The sounds aren't that great, especially the piano. I knew it had only 4 note polyphony, but that doesn't work right, on some sounds the melody note will go dead when you switch 3 note chords. It does have more features than are mentioned. It has a headset mic not a hand held mic. It also has a ug for power adapter and mine had a headphone jack, although the Casio website said that it doesn't have one. The included songs are real lame, who would want to learn them. Not to bad but notworth the price Musicians Friend is asking. Really just a toy for kids.

I am a teacher of music and I would tell the makers of this item to stop wasting time with this. Children learning music require full size keys to get fingers ajusted to the piano when they begin to learn more. recently bought and had to return.
