Compact 88-key digital piano squeezes into the tightest spaces! |
With 128 note polyphony and the advanced AIF triple element sound engine, the Casio PX-200 will put realistic piano tones at your fingertips without the worry of drop offs during high speed passages and performances that require intensive pedal operations. I have some higher end keys, but wanted something inexpensive to leave set up at home for practice. I was pleasantly surprised by the sound and features. I wish it could save changes per voice, but at this price, that's not a big deal. This instrument is a great value.

I bought this after hearing good things about it online. I do not regret it. The sound, of course, isn't as great as a real acoustic piano, but it comes close. I don't know about the older ones, but mine has 12 main voices and then 150 more under a "various/GM tones" button, which is nice. The action is excellent. I might as well be playing an acoustic. Nice and heavy. The keys do make a bit of noise when released, but it's not much more than an acoustic's keys would. It's not as feature rich as some other digital pianos, but that's not really a biggie. I use it as a MIDI controller a lot, anyway. Defniitely a good deal.

I've owned this piano for about 3 years. I think mine might be the older model but whatever.
Lets start with the pros. The voices sound phenomenal. Very realistic. Especially the grand piano. I don't care what any of these other reviews say, if they think the piano sounds bad then they should get their hearing checked.
Also, for the money? a sweet value. Two track record and playback. And a selection of pre-recorded pieces. Also, you really get a true hammer action feel on this thing, the keys are extra heavy, which really helps strengthen your fingers. Now the cons. The speakers are fragile. I blew mine already and they're buzzing. So you'll need to buy an amp.
Only in order to use an amp, you need to get a special cable because the headphone jack is for a mini-male input. I had to go to radio shack and get a special cable for that.
Also, the keys make a lot of noise, since they're so heavy, when you press them it sounds like a little kid playing with a hammer, so you have to crank up the volume a little to block that out.
Also, there's only like, 8 voices. So if you're looking for a lot of voices, look elsewhere. Well, on mine there are only 8 voices, idk if they upgraded or whatever. Yea.... I hope i helped.
Bye

I bought this unit after weeks of online research. Where I live we don't have a national music retailer where someone can go to see, feel, and hear the various models available. Incidentally I had to rely mostly on what was available online at the time. Had I been able to sample this product first, I'm not sure if I would have bought one not. One thing is for sure, it's packed with a TON of features for the money! Once I played around with the unit for a few weeks I gained much, much more appreciation for it.
I was initially disappointed with the piano sounds this board offers. But after tinkering with it quite a bit I've found that you can "tweak" the right tone out of any of the voices by using the reverb, chorus, brilliance and layering effects. There are literally limitless possibilities for getting the "right" tone out of this board.
My only real gripe at this point, and it's a fairly important one, is there's no registration memory function. You have to remember the best combination of effects for each tone and manually set them every time. Hey, you get what you pay for. In this case, what you get is actually quite impressive.

Bad Quality Control

This is my second Privia keyboard. I got a PX110 but ended up returning it had a strange buzzing sound in one of the speakers. Then was the px200, a good league above the px110, however other than the grand piano 1 and 3 and some of the electric piano sounds the other were painful to listen to. Then I noticed a significant noise increase when recording, and a "ticking" sound out of the right speaker, not very noticeable but now that I've heard and I know its there I'm not sure that what I will do. So from my experience with Casio: very poor quality control, I expected better from something that they msrp for 800, if I decide to return this keyboard or when buying something in the future I will avoid Casio.
