The grand piano sounds in the PX-130 delivers an unprecedented level of realism and expression. 4 dynamic layers of stereo piano samples are integrated with Casio's proprietary Linear Morphing System, resulting in a grand piano sound with seamless transitions and a superior dynamic range. For added realism, the PX-130 simulates the sound of the open strings when the dampers are raised by the pedal using Acoustic Resonance DSP. The PX-130 also has 128-note polyphony, enough horsepower for the most demanding musical passages, and the ability to layer sounds and use the damper pedal without worry of dropped notes. The result is a grand piano experience that is unmatched at any price.

Expressive Touch
The Privia PX-130 features a Tri-Sensor 88-note, scaled hammer-action keyboard. Casio's engineering has resulted in an authentic piano touch that captures every detail and nuance of your performance. This scaled hammer action provides the weight, feel, and resistance without sacrificing the portability of the instrument.

Education Features
In addition to the superior keyboard action and piano sound, the PX-130 is ideal for music education. Featuring Casio's Duet mode, the keyboard can be split into two equal ranges, allowing student and teacher to play at the keyboard simultaneously. The PX-130's built-in 2-track recorder and metronome allows you to practice any tempo and later listen to what you just played. The recording features can also be used to capture moments of creativity and remember song ideas.

Connect and Create
It's easy to connect the PX-130 to your computer with its built-in USB/MIDI interface. The PX-130's 88-note, weighted, scaled, hammer-action keyboard makes it an ideal controller keyboard for using with music software applications. The USB connection also allows you to move songs to and from the computer into PX-130's flash ROM, allowing to you save songs you've created.

Versatility, Portability and Design
Whether you're at home, church, school, or onstage, the PX-130 was designed to tackle it all, making it a valuable investment. Since it's lightweight, you can easily take the PX-130 from home to the classroom, or even to the gig and back with no worries. It connects easily to your computer via USB, and its Duet mode is perfect for student and teacher practice. The technology in the Casio PX-130 allows you to do it all.

I bought this unit to practice my piano on a keyboard that felt like a piano, and much as possible sounded like one too, so as to save my neighbors the racket of an actual session on a real piano. The feel is great, no doubt about it; however, my one disappointment was how “thin” the sound is for the bass notes. It SOUNDS like a piano, but it doesn’t shake your innards like the strings of a real piano do. The encased speakers are loud enough for you and those in the room to hear you just fine and then some (in a house setting) but you’re not gonna feel those chest-vibrating lows you would on a regular piano. I had unfairly set the bar too high when I bought this I suppose. But everything else is right on. There are some features on here that folks may want or need, such as a metronome and a variety of different sounds, from '60’s organ to pipe organ and all that fun stuff. Two caveats though: a quarter-inch jack would have been nice, to plug into an amp for going live with a band, or at least just to enhance the lack of decent lows for the bass keys. That’s easily solved though by buying an adaptor to plug into the mini-jack for the headphones. Secondly you should consider buying a sturdy stand; I got the X-stand for it and it’s just too wobbly. On the whole though I’m happy with my investment.

I purchased this keyboard for my youngest daughter to learn on so she didn't have to play on our more expensive equipment. I think for her it is fine, but there isn't much on this thing. It was the cheapest keyboard with weighted keys that I could find.

The speaker/amp in this keyboard is very weak and is barely enough sound at full volume to be useful. The sounds in the keyboard are fairly low quality as well so the piano doesn't sound very natural. I probably would have rated the piano even lower if not for the low price tag.

In the end, I would not purchase this piano again, I would spend a few hundred more to get something much better. If you can't afford more then you can probably survive with this one though. Just keep in mind that you aren't getting much.

Before I begin let me clarify I am no expert when it comes to judging piano, however I have been around music and instruments for 15+ years and I just wanted to give my insight on what I think about the Privia PX-130. I just bought this digital piano for my son. His teacher highly recommended we get a digital piano due to the weighted hammers, so we did just that. It is nice that we can move it around or put it away when guests come over unlike an acoustic piano. The keys feel 90% identical to a real piano! The speakers leave a little to be desired as we have to have it turned all the way up to be able to hear it in our living room. That can easily be remedied by an amplifier though. The sounds are great, however you can detect a small hint of "keyboard" tones, but hey...it's not an acoustic! So that should be expected anyway. But overall, I rate this very high and would definitely recommend especially for a beginner to even a novice!
