if you are looking at this synth and the microkorg, don't be fooled into buying for the name korg. the microkorg doesn't do half of what this does, yet its the same price. this thing is amazing and i'm very relaxed to know i'll be using this every day.

There are hundreds of interesting sounds. This will please a lot of very different musicians. There are sounds that will work well with funk, psych rock, certainly techno, hip-hop, and the more ambient music.
Since it is so versatile, you will probably be scrolling through dozens of sounds that you will not like. This is a small and understandable inconvenience. You are bound to find several precious sounds.
The vocoder was disappointing, but that did not apply to me at all. Also, the editing options are very basic, but most settings are fine the way they are.
I have become more interested in vintage keyboards, but I still come back to this for the newer sounds.

If your like me and on a budget, this is the Hands-Down pick for a versatile, great sounding Synth! I'm currently in two bands. One is Classic Rock and the other is Ambient. I've found something on this board for both styles. The Pads are SUPER, the Basses BOOM. Vocoder is lacking, but I didn't buy this board for that anyway. With a little tweaking, this thing goes from great to Excellent! Be warned...there is a learning curve with these controls, but nothing alittle time and practice won't fix. The quality in this piece isn't great. {For example, the main control knob on mine spins off-axis.} But hey, for the price it can't be beat. I have no qualms recommending this board for anyone from beginner to pro.

An amazing synth geared for all genres! The controls are easy to master and turns this synth with complex features simple and fun. The Micron also looks great, especially the lights! The pitch wheel shines brighter as you turn it further either way, and the octave control buttons shine brighter or dimmer depending on how high or low the octave is. This is a wonder synth for beginners, or pros.
Reviewer's Play Style: Industrial, electro, indie, trance
This is the god of cheap synths. If you are thinking about getting a microkorg consider this. It comes with more patches, better quality sounds, easy editing and the ability to create full songs. Plus it has lots of room to save your own presets.
